Ceremony

Morning prayers are usually every weekday morning in Skálholt church at 9:00. Everyone is welcome to listen or participate.

The prayers are also sung in the St Mary's Chapel, which is on the left side of the church as you enter. The prayers are sung at the altar of Bishop Brynjólf Sveinsson, but it is believed to be from the 17th century.

Morning prayers have been a regular part of Skálholt Church throughout the centuries, but they were always sung at 9:00 in the morning and 18:00 in the evening.

Guests are welcome to come and listen to morning prayers and, depending on the occasion, participate.
