About the event

On Wednesday 15 May at 18:00 there will be a Ragnheiðar procession in Skálholt to remember and honor her life, but this year marks 383 years since Ragnheiðar's birth.

Ragnheiður Brynjólfsdóttir lived in Skálholt during her short life, and we will remember her with a walk through her historical trails in Skálholt. During the walk, writer Friðrik Erlingsson will review the history of Ragnheiðar, her life and destiny.

It is a great privilege to have Friðrik Erlingsson, one of the country's leading experts on the history of Ragnheiðar, with us on the walk. Friðrik delved deeply into her history while preparing for the opera Ragnheiði, which was just premiered in Skálholt Cathedral at the time. The walk starts at 18:00 and takes about 1-2 hours. We will walk around Skálholtskirkja and the immediate vicinity, but we will visit the main places connected with the life of Ragnheiðar and its people. Among them, we will stop at the memorial to Ragnheiðar and his family, which the new Skálholtsfélag established a few years ago.

The Hvänn restaurant will be open and you can buy refreshments there in connection with the walk.
