Summer concerts in Skálholt will be held from June 6 - 14, but the program can be accessed here: www.sumartonleikar.is
The concerts are varied, but a selection of musicians perform at numerous concerts during the season. Emphasis is placed on children's programs where children receive education and listen to music. This year's guest composer is Bára Gísladóttir, composer and double bass player. She is multi-awarded and is one of the shareholders of the Composer Award 2024 and the Icelandic Music Award in 2024 in classical and contemporary music.
Summer concerts in Skálholt have been active since 1975 and have held concerts in Skálholt church for 5-6 weeks every summer. The festival is the oldest and also the largest of its kind in the country and one of the biggest cultural events that takes place in the South during the summer. Every summer, three thousand people attend the Summer Concert.
