The Skálholt Choir

The choir has the task of leading the congregation in a variety of songs on festive occasions. The Skálholt Choir takes part in regular concerts in Skálholt Church at Christmas, Easter, during the church's cultural programs and at festive concerts at the Skálholt Festival. The Skálholt Choir consists of residents and members of the Skálholt Priesthood of all ages who enjoy singing, having fun and participating in the work of the congregation in a lively and constructive way.

Organist Jón Bjarnason is the director of the choir.

Choir rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at 20:00 - 22:00. When there is a lot to do, exercises are added.

New voices are always welcome in the Skálholt choir. Please contact organist Jón Bjarnason on phone 691 8321 or email jon@skalholt.is

The wish songs at the organ

Wish songs at the organ is a concert by organist Jón Bjarnason, where he invites the audience to participate in the concert by choosing the next song. Visitors can choose from over 100 songs, hymns, songs, pop and rock songs or the national anthem of Tungnamann Kristján in Stekkholt. Guests are encouraged to sing along, but the lyrics of the songs are projected onto the wall during the concert.

Everyone is welcome to Óskalagin and admission is free. Concertgoers are encouraged to make voluntary donations to the Skálholt Church's Grand Piano Fund, but a collection is currently underway to buy a grand piano for the church. You can pay by cash or card.

You can also deposit the fund to account 0133-15-1647, id 610172-0169.
