UM VIÐBURÐINN

Hevreh Ensemble er tónlistarhópur frá New York í Bandaríkjunum. Þau bjóða uppá tónleika í Skálholtskirkju þar sem þau flytja verk eftir hópmeðliminn Jeff Adler. 

Dagskráin samanstendur af jazz - heimstónlist - klassík og mun hópurinn leika á fjölbreytt hljóðfæri, eins og Cherokee indíánaflautur, klarinett, bassaklarinett, óbó, enskt horn og heimsslagverk sem inniheldur djembe, dumbek, sjávartrommu, balafon, kalimba, regnstaf, tabla, stokktrommu, lyklaborð og shofar.

Hópurinn hefur haldið tónleika jafnt í Evrópu og Bandaríkjunum og hlotið fjöldann allan af verðlaunum og viðurkenningum.

NYC based Hevreh Ensemble performs compositions by group member Jeff Adler. Their concerts have delighted audiences and critics alike with appearances throughout the US and Europe, including New York City, the Newport Chamber Music Festival, Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site and concerts in Vienna, Berlin, Bonn, Amsterdam, Prague, and Krakow. They have presented concerts for the International Jewish Cultural Festival in Krakow and for the POLIN Museum in Warsaw, Poland and were invited to tour China under the auspices of their record label PARMA. They also were invited to travel to Argentina for a tour that was canceled because of the pandemic.

The wide and varied instrumentation includes the innovative use of Cherokee Native American flutes, along with clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, English horn, world percussion that includes djembe, dumbek, ocean drum, balafon, kalimba, rain stick, tabla, log drum, keyboard, and shofar.

The members of the group have been honored and affiliated with organizations such as: The Juilliard School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Hofstra University, The Blossom Music Festival among many others and have performed with ensembles such as: The Galliard Woodwind Quintet, American Symphony Orchestra, New York Baroque Consort, Trio Sonata, New York Kammermusiker, and at such locations as Alice Tully Hall, ( Lincoln Center), Carnegie Recital Hall, the Library of Congress the Frick Museum and the Philips Collection in Washington, DC. They have recorded for Opus One, CRI Records and Gasparo Records.
